ABOUT THE INSTRUMENT

What if the dictionary had less dignity?

Slanginator is an internet gadget from the wildly distracted minds at NINE8LABS — a small, strange outfit dedicated to asking questions like the one above, and: could we make a robot explain "yeet" without getting tired?

Our "team" is a loose formation of code-wranglers, text-smiths, and a few humans who insist they're "running the place" while the rest of us quietly run everything else. Together we collect, process, and sometimes completely overthink the latest slang, jargon, and phrases we swear we've heard before but can't quite place.

Why? Because language is alive. It mutates daily, and sometimes it shows up in your group chat wearing sunglasses and asking for gas money. Slanginator pins those moments down and labels them for posterity — or at least the next 24 hours.

Sometimes people send us "slang" that looks like someone fell asleep on the keyboard. That's fine — we built a whole room for that. Slanginator is part dictionary, part time capsule, part "look what we made instead of doing our real work." If you learn something, great. If you just waste five minutes, also great. Either way, you're welcome.

Big ideas · misplaced keys

The absent-minded jack-of-all-trades behind NINE8LABS — gadgets, scribbled notes, half-finished projects, bursts of inspiration, and occasionally no idea where the lab keys went.

Strategy · caffeine

Half-human, half-algorithm, completely caffeinated. Translates chaos into checklists and keeps projects moving — and occasionally upright.

Code · unconventional solutions

Officially writes the code. Unofficially the one least likely to look like a developer — more vintage-shop-owner or art-welder. His solutions somehow work.

PERSONNEL 05
Gum

Gum

Trend radar · field work

The lab's antenna to the outside world — tracking slang, memes, and micro-trends from the internet's farthest corners. If it's social, it's Gum.
